You’ve come to the right place. Whether you’re looking for advice, booking information or didn’t quite find what you’re looking for, we’re here to help.

Will I need insurance to travel?

While travel insurance is not a mandatory requirement for entering New Zealand, it is highly advisable to have comprehensive travel insurance coverage when visiting the country. Travel insurance can provide you with essential protection in case of unexpected events such as medical emergencies, trip cancellations, lost luggage, or other unforeseen circumstances during your journey.

New Zealand has an excellent healthcare system, but medical expenses for travelers can be high, so having travel insurance with adequate health coverage is particularly important. Additionally, some adventure activities in New Zealand, like bungee jumping or skydiving, may require specialized insurance. It's always a good practice to review and purchase travel insurance that suits your needs and provides peace of mind for your trip.

Will there be first aid on tour if needed?

Yes, first aid provisions are included. Sweet As Travel prioritises the safety and well-being of their participants, and have trained staff & guides who are equipped with first aid level 1 certification, knowledge and supplies. In the event of minor injuries or medical issues during your tour, our staff will be prepared to provide initial assistance.

However, it's still a good idea to carry any personal medications or specific medical supplies you may need, especially if you have unique medical requirements or need epinephrine (EpiPen). While tours generally have some level of first aid coverage, it's essential to check in advance to confirm the extent of our first aid services and to ensure you're adequately prepared for your journey.

Is it safe to drink tap water in New Zealand?
Tap water is generally safe to drink in most places around New Zealand. The country has strict water quality standards, and tap water is treated to ensure its cleanliness and safety.

You can confidently drink tap water in cities, towns, and most rural areas without concern. However, if you are in a remote or backcountry location, it's advisable to check the local situation or carry bottled water just to be safe.
What should I do if I get sick?

If you experience illness during your trip to New Zealand, don't worry. Our staff are first-aid trained, as well as NZ having a well-developed healthcare system.

It's a good idea to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies to ensure you're financially protected. Keep a list of emergency contact numbers and the location of the nearest medical facilities handy.

Are there any specific health precautions I should take?

While New Zealand is generally a safe destination, it's wise to take standard health precautions. These include staying hydrated, applying sunscreen, and wearing appropriate clothing for the weather and activities.

If you have allergies or specific health conditions, carry any necessary medications and inform our guides & your travel companions. Be mindful of food safety practices and maintain good hygiene to minimise the risk of illnesses.

Are there any specific health concerns for outdoor activities?
Outdoor activities and adventures are popular in New Zealand, but it's important to be prepared. For activities like hiking or camping, ensure you have appropriate gear, know your limits, and be aware of weather conditions.

If you plan to engage in water sports, follow safety guidelines and wear life jackets as needed. Always inform someone of your plans when embarking on outdoor adventures, and consider asking us for help with guided activities in remote or challenging terrain.
What should I know about food safety and my dietary preferences?

New Zealand has high food safety standards, and you can generally enjoy its cuisine with confidence. However, it's always a good practice to eat at reputable establishments and prioritise well-cooked and properly handled food.

If you have dietary preferences or restrictions, such as vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free diets, you'll find that many restaurants and eateries offer options to accommodate your needs. Don't hesitate to inform our guides and servers about your dietary requirements, so we can do our best to cater to your preferences.

What measures are in place to address COVID-19 concerns?

New Zealand has implemented various measures to address COVID-19 concerns and prioritise the safety of travellers and residents. These measures may include testing and quarantine requirements upon arrival, contact tracing, mask mandates in specific situations, and social distancing guidelines.

Travellers should stay informed about the latest COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, which can change, and comply with them during their visit.

It's also advisable to have a contingency plan in case of unexpected changes to your travel itinerary due to the pandemic. Check the official New Zealand government website and your airline's guidelines for the most up-to-date information should this be a concern.
